Q: How do I install Extensions?

A: After buying an extension, you can download a ZIP file. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins -> Add New and choose</g> “Upload Plugin” in the top. You can then select the file with the file upload form that shows up.

Q: Why are my Sympose Settings not showing?

A: Sympose</g> relies on CMB2 for it’s settings and custom fields. CMB2 is included, but can also be separately installed as a plugin. If you have any issues, try to install CMB2 as a plugin. This will force Sympose to use the latest version of CMB2.

Q: My sidebars don’t show, how is that?

A: Sympose can overwrite your theme’s sidebar with it’s own sidebars. You can define this in Sympose -> Settings. Check the Overwrite Sidebars settings, and then choose your theme’s default sidebar from the dropdown below.

Q: Where do I find the shortcodes and how do I use them?

A: After creating profiles for people and organisations and setting the information for the event, Sympose automatically generates shortcodes based on this content. From your Dashboard, go to Sympose -> Shortcodes</g> and you’ll find a list with generated shortcodes. Just copy the shortcode and paste it on a page to show the content.

Q: Why doesn’t my shortcode work?

A: To be able to use and display the full content for organisations</g> and people it is necessary to have a category and an event set to them. When you create a person or organisation</g>, make sure to always select a category and an event in order for the shortcode to work properly. To see an overview of available shortcodes, check out Sympose</g> -> Shortcodes in your dashboard.

Q: How can I display the pictures of people and organizations on the schedule?

A: First off, make sure you’ve set the schedule to show people / organisations. You can do this in Sympose -> Settings, then make sure you’ve added images to the profiles. Last but not least, make sure your session has people or organisations linked to them. You can select these when you edit a session.

Q: How can I display the people linked to a session?

A: Install the extension Sympose session people and place the widget in the Sympose Sessions widget area. This will display the picture of the speakers of a specific session on the sidebar.

Q: How can I display images in a circle with Sympose?

A: Just install Circle Images extension and the pictures will automatically display as circles.

Q: How do I use the Sympose Genesis Sidebars extension?

Q: Why is the contact form showing in duplicate on my page?

A: In case a contact form appears in both sidebar and under the description of a person or organisation you can disable this by going to Sympose -> Settings -> General and remove the checkbox on “Render sidebars after post content”.

Q: How can I display the days of my event on the schedule?

A: On the dashboard go to Sessions -> Events and Add New Event. First, be sure you created a main event with a name and a slug. This will work as a parent event. In case you want to create multiple days for your event just Add a new event an fill the name, a slug, a start date and on the Parent Event choose the main event you created. This will make sure that the days are connected to the main event and will be displayed on the schedule.

Q: How to handle multiple sessions on different tracks at the same time?

A: Sympose supports multiple sessions at the same time. To combine these in the schedule, set the main session as a post parent of the other sessions.

Q: How can I influence the way Sympose looks?

A: We recommend using a theme to change the look and feel of Sympose, so that Sympose can handle the functionality for you. In the future we do plan to release an extension that hooks into the WordPress customizer, allowing you to change some styling in Sympose. Until then you’ll have to do it with themes and your own CSS. We do have some Code Snippets to get you started. Subscribe to the newsletter to keep up-to-date about the progress on the customizer!
